Otuoke, the hometown of President Goodluck Jonathan is been confronted with an ugly incident of rape as 36-year old man, identified as Personal Assistant to the former chairman of Otuoke Community Development Committee (CDC) in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has been arrested for allegedly raping a yet to be identified 18 year old girl to death.
The suspect was arrested by the police after he was caught as he tried to evacuate the corpse in the early hours of Thursday.
Residents told SaharaReporters that the suspect resides in an uncompleted building owned by his boss, the former council chairman.
It was gathered that an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) had earlier apprehended him.
“He told the crowd that he met the girl while she was on ground and in pain. He said the girl told him that she took poison due to frustration she has been experiencing in her life.”
The Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa Police Command, Alex Akhigbe, confirmed the incident.
He added that the suspect, whose identity was yet to be disclosed, had been transferred to the State Police Headquarters for further investigation.
The police has deposited the corpse at the Kolo General Hospital.
