A teenage girl, soaked in the poolof her blood flowing from her vagina, was on Tuesday, discovered by residents of Ekpenede Street in Benin City, crying she was severely raped by a man. Residents of the area said the girl, who gave her name as Osagioduwa, could not walk and her voice was hardly audible when they saw her. They said they had to give her a wrapper, as she was almost naked. The girl said she was raped inside a primary school by a man,who also hit her several times, adding that she had to pretend to have fainted to enable the alleged rapist have his way. Osagioduwa, who said she is an orphan and lives in a church, stated that she was looking for a place to sleep when the incident occurred. “The man (rapist) told us that hersister would help us. He took us to his house and later took us to one school, where I wanted to sleep. “He grabbed me from the back and covered my mouth. He hit meon my neck and I could not shout. He laid ontop of me,” the teenager said. The girl was later taken to the hospital by the Association of Orphans and Vulnerable Children and the Child Protection Network,who also notified the police of the alleged crime. Member of the aid group, Lucy Bello, said investigation revealed that the act was committed at theOgbe Primary School, Benin City, adding that doctors had to stitch the wound the victim had in her vagina. However, an old woman, Rose, who said she was the grandmother of the victim, said that the victim left home on Sunday after they returned from church, saying though the girl’s father was dead, her mother wasliving in the village.
